What apps/software tools can’t you live without?
Can’t live without Google apps. My Google calendar and daily agenda are life savers. Labels and boomerang make zero inbox in Gmail possible! I do love my Desktop sticky notes. I download all my eBooks and audiobooks using the MackinVia app.

What’s your workplace like?Collage
My office is pretty traditional right now. After I’ve spent more time in it I’ll know how I want to personalize it to better fit my needs. I plan to add a standing desk option, hang magnetic strips and create a dry erase wall with some specialty paint. I am very organized. I don’t like a lot of clutter but I have little things around my office that are happy reminders of special times.

What’s your best time-saving trick/life-hack?
I have a menu board on my kitchen counter with our dinner plans mapped out for the week. After a busy day I don’t have to think about what to cook plus it speeds up my time in the grocery store.

Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without?
Because I rely on my computer/tablet and phone so much I’m very thankful for my portable charger power pack! I’m sure I could live without our Bose Bluetooth Speaker but it wouldn’t be as fun!

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? What’s your secret?
Well…I’m not sure I’m better than anyone else but I would say I am really good at finding the positive in most any situation. There’s no secret to optimism, it’s a choice. I also smile a lot. 🙂

What do you listen to while you work?
Usually silence. If I have something mindless to do like processing books I listen to an audiobook. If I’m working at home there’s probably classic or alternative rock playing.

What are you currently reading?leadership
Give and Take: Why Helping Others Drives Our Success by Adam M Grant; Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

Are you more of an introvert or extrovert?
I would consider myself more of an extrovert because I am energized by being with other people although I look forward to my solitude.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Best work related advice: Don’t waste energy worrying about things you can’t control. Spend your energy focusing on solutions.

What other interesting careers/jobs have you held?
My entire “career” has been in education. In high school and college I worked as a waitress, nanny, bridal consultant and had a cleaning business.

If you were not working in education, what would you be doing?
It’s hard to imagine doing anything else but it would be fun to be a travel planner/blogger.

Is there anything else you want to add for readers?
Every day I remind myself of this saying and try to follow it, “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always!”

Fill int he blank. I’d love to see ________ answer these same questions?
Karen Searles, VPA Academy Dance Program Lead Teacher at Cedar Ridge HS and Next Gen Digital Classroom teacher extraordinaire.
